REFLECTION

It’s time to reflect –here’s why

Every month we bring you new tips, new challenges, new ways to keep moving – it’s go, go, go, just like you’ve come to know and love us. But this month, we’re encouraging you to slow down. Take a breath. Inhale, exhale… and reflect. We know, we know – it’s unusual coming from a high-energy fast-paced agency like us, but here’s why we think slowing down and looking back is the best thing you can do for your brand in preparation for 2022.

#1 It’s part of the bigger cycle

Plan, implement, reflect, repeat. Now, most of us tend to dive head-first into planning for the new year and we feel the pressure to get that operational and marketing plans together before you close up for the holidays. But planning before reflecting is like building a house without a foundation. Resist the urge to go straight from implementation to planning and take some time to analyse your 2021 marketing and branding efforts.

#2 You can save yourself future heartache

Everyone makes mistakes – what’s important is that we learn from it. At Calypso, we’re not known for just playing it safe – we like to push boundaries and be bold! So, when it comes to this time of the year, we like to take some time to work through our marketing efforts for the year and consider what worked and what didn’t. We encourage you to do the same and learn from those mistakes, and document what worked so you can repeat the recipe.

#3 It’s important to celebrate!

We spend so much of our lives rushing after the next big success – but what is the point of it all, if we don’t take the time to revel in that success? Before you launch into the new year, pinpoint the highlights of the past year and really CELEBRATE and enjoy it. Then, use this motivation as the momentum you need to keep going and to set the bar even higher for 2022.

CURIOUS ABOUT WHAT OUR TEAM LEADERS REFLECTED ON?

Tanya:

“The lines between home and work life have become blurred – almost invisible – and we need to redraw it in 2022. Working at all hours of the day is simply not sustainable for anyone, so we need to work hard to separate work and home again.”

Rea:

“No matter how rapidly or intensely the world changes, this year has taught me that authenticity is the one thing that will never go out of fashion and withstand the test of time, always. Here’s to building more authentic brands in 2022!”

Paula:

“Two, three, even four heads are better than one. 2021 showed me that, when client and agency work TOGETHER – with a little help from the customer – we achieve the best results! It’s all about building trust and really understanding what the customer wants.”
