ARE YOU FACING A SOCIAL DILEMMA?
Ever since Netflix brought out The Social Dilemma documentary, the world has been on fire with conversations around ethical design, transparency and personal data being sold as a product.
Now, you might be thinking: As a social media expert, how does Calypso practice ethical design?
Well, wonder no more, because we’re about to put all your concerns to rest!
#1 We see design as an artform
We appreciate design for what it is: A tool that can shape minds and change behaviours. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to fully learn and understand the true power of design. This allows us to practice responsible design, and make sure that we’re using good design techniques that speak to consumers without deceiving them.
#2 We build TRUE audiences
There are SO many ways to get big followings on social media! But at Calypso, we are mindful about how we target consumers and we believe in providing quality content that attracts the RIGHT market. In this way, we don't take advantage of our target audiences or our clients to “make a quick buck”.
#3 Honesty is the best policy
Because we live and breathe design and marketing, it has become an extension of who we are. That’s why we choose to practice the same values in our work as we do in our daily lives –with honesty and transparency being high up on that list.
#4 We understand the big picture
Yes, there is a lot to be gained from practicing unethical design and marketing practices. But the question you need to be asking yourself is: Do I want to build my brand on deception? If the answer is “yes”, then Calypso is not the right agency for you. Because we believe in doing things the right way, even if it requires a bit more patience.
WE BUILD RELATIONSHIPS
Did you know that many of our client relationships span many, many years? That’s because we believe in building strong relationships with our clients, and enabling them in turn to build strong relationships with their clients. Here are some examples of brand building work we’ve done for our clients over the years.
**SIDE NOTES FROM OUR TEAM""
THOUGHTS ON ETHICAL DESIGN FROM REA
"Ethical design is an intricate balance between keeping authenticity to a brand and creating just enough drama to keep users, followers and customers intrigued and coming back for more. Never lie about a product its just not worth it. Create an amazing story instead, makes everything just a little more exciting and fun."
THOUGHTS ON ETHICAL PRACTICE FROM CHARN
"A word that comes to mind is CLARITY. Whether you're running a competition, introducing a special offer, or promoting your product, you have a responsibility to your audience to be CLEAR & HONEST in your communication. Don't pretend to be something that you're not, and don't pretend to offer something that you don't. The long-term trust you build makes it all worth it in the end!"
